A Milton Resident Takes the Step — Making It Official

On Monday, June 9, 2026, Ahmad Jamal formally filed his nomination papers at Milton Town Hall, officially entering the race for Ward 2 Town Councillor in the 2026 Ontario Municipal Election.

The filing marks a significant milestone for Ahmad, a long-time Ward 2 resident who has spent months listening to neighbours frustrated with traffic congestion, overdevelopment, and a feeling that their voices are not being heard at Town Hall.

"Filing today is a commitment to every family in Ward 2," said Ahmad Jamal. "I am not here for a political career. I am here because the people in this ward deserve a councillor who shows up, listens, and delivers real results — not just at election time, but every day."

Ahmad joins what is expected to be a competitive race for Ward 2, with Milton's rapid growth placing municipal planning, infrastructure, and transit at the centre of the campaign.

Who I Am

A resident, a neighbour,
not a career politician.

"I am running because I believe residents deserve a councillor who listens, who is accessible, and who focuses on practical solutions instead of politics."

My name is Ahmad Jamal, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Ward 2 Town Councillor in Milton. Like many families in our community, I chose Milton because it is a safe, welcoming, and family-oriented town with tremendous potential.

Over the years, we have seen incredible growth — but many residents now feel that our infrastructure and services are struggling to keep pace. Every day, residents deal with traffic congestion, parking pressure, crowded roads, and concerns about overdevelopment.

Families want better recreation spaces, safer neighbourhoods, improved transit, and responsible planning that protects the quality of life we all came to Milton for. I am not a career politician — I am a neighbour who decided it was time to act.

Milton is growing quickly. The decisions we make today shape our town for generations.

I believe leadership starts with listening.

Ward 2 deserves balanced and responsible growth. Growth itself is not the problem — poor planning is. We need infrastructure, roads, transit, parks, and community services to grow alongside new development, not years behind it.

I want to hear directly from residents about the issues affecting their daily lives and work together to find practical, realistic solutions that benefit the entire community.

Key Issues

What Ward 2 residents
tell me every day.

🚦
Traffic & Road Congestion

Our roads are overwhelmed. Rapid population growth without matching infrastructure investment has made daily commutes and school runs unnecessarily stressful for Ward 2 families.

🅿️
Parking & Neighbourhood Pressure

Parking has become a genuine quality-of-life issue in established neighbourhoods. Residents deserve practical relief — not just promises — and a council that treats this as urgent.

🏗️
Overdevelopment & Planning

Growth is not the problem — poor planning is. New development must be matched with roads, parks, schools, and community services, not approved years ahead of the support residents need.

🌳
Recreation & Green Space

Families, children, and seniors all need accessible parks and recreation facilities. As Ward 2 grows, green space must be protected as a fundamental part of community wellbeing.

🚌
Transit Improvement

Milton's transit network must keep pace with a growing population. Better local connections reduce road pressure and give residents real alternatives to driving for every trip.

📢
Transparency & Resident Voice

Major decisions should not be made behind closed doors. Residents deserve to be consulted before plans are finalized — not notified after the fact.

Five commitments
to Ward 2.

These are not aspirations. They are specific, practical commitments I will hold myself accountable to from Day 1 as your councillor.

01
Smarter Traffic & Road Planning

Advocate at Town Hall for traffic studies, intersection improvements, and road investment that reflects Ward 2's actual growth. Push for solutions before the next development is approved, not after.

02
Parking & Neighbourhood Solutions

Work directly with affected streets and community associations to deliver parking relief. Ensure new development includes adequate parking from the outset rather than offloading the burden onto existing residents.

03
Support for Families, Seniors & Local Business

Champion accessible programming, recreation space, and services for every generation. Support local businesses with a councillor who understands the practical challenges of operating in a rapidly growing community.

04
Transparency & Open Communication

Regular community updates, accessible town halls, and a direct line to your councillor. No filters, no delays — just honest communication from the people's representative.

05
Residents First on Major Decisions

Ward 2 residents will be consulted before significant planning, development, or budget decisions are made — not notified after approval. Your voice shapes the decision, not the other way around.
